In the area where construction works for the Beşiktaş station of the Istanbul metro are underway, Neolithic wooden artifacts have been discovered.
The Neolithic wooden artifacts unearthed at the site designated for the construction of a metro station in Beşiktaş have prompted action from the archaeologists at the Istanbul Archaeology Museums.
The discovery was announced on Instagram by Rahmi Asal, the President of Istanbul Archaeology Museums.
We are competing with Stone Hills (Taş Tepeler),” said Rahmi Asal, and shared the following information: “During the excavations carried out by the Istanbul Archeology Museums Directorate in the Beşiktaş Metro Station area, processed wooden remains from the Neolithic period were unearthed. Scientific evaluations of the wood found under the Early Bronze Age tumuli continue. Additionally, pottery pieces from the Neolithic period were also found in the same layer. “We would like to express our gratitude to our valuable mentors Mr. Mehmet Özdoğan, Mr. Necmi Karul and Mr. Eylem Özdoğan for their valuable guidance and support during the evaluation of these remains and findings.”
