Touristic Mesopotamia Express starts its journey

The touristic Mesopotamia train, which will depart from the Turkish capital Ankara and pass through Central Anatolia and Eastern Anatolia and stop in Diyarbakır, will start its services on April 19.

TCDD organized a roadshow before April 19.

The Mesopotamia train started its promotional tour from Ankara and made stops in Kayseri, Malatya and Elazığ before arriving in Diyarbakır one day later.

Helin Gözde Yılmaz, who participated in the promotional tour, said, “While traveling for kilometers, cities change, but your room remains the same. I think everyone should have this experience at least once in their lives. I would like to try other tours if possible.”

The first train of the 1051-kilometer route organized by the General Directorate of TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ is expected to depart from Ankara on Friday, April 19 at 15:55 and the return train is expected to depart from Diyarbakır on Sunday, April 21 at 12:00.

“Mesopotamia Express” has 9 sleeping cars and 1 dining car with a total capacity of 180 passengers. Those who want to travel in two-person sleeper wagons on the train will pay 9 thousand liras and 8 thousand liras on the return route.

In the double rooms in the wagons, the seats also turn into beds for sleeping at night. The rooms offer all kinds of facilities for the personal needs of the travelers, from refrigerators to sinks, from storage cabinets to lighting and heating.

The touristic train, which will offer its guests a pleasant journey accompanied by unique natural landscapes, will stop in Kayseri and Malatya for three hours each and in Elazığ for 4 hours. The train services are expected to contribute to the economy of the region, especially Diyarbakır.
